The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show was NBC's Sunday-night family comedy, with bandleader Phil Harris and movie star Alice Faye playing themselves at home, flanked by Elliott Lewis as Phil's work-shy guitarist Frankie Remley and Walter Tetley as Julius, the grocery boy who can always be bought. This is the Father's Day broadcast of June 19, 1949. Andy, a French orphan who speaks no English, has landed in Frankie's life by mistake, and the welfare society won't let Frankie adopt him until he's married. So Frankie does the sensible thing: he places a "wife wanted" ad in the Police Gazette and signs it Phil Harris. Phil barricades the doors for the mob of women that never comes, until one very determined applicant does, and Frankie finds himself signing a marriage contract and booking a flight to Las Vegas for Andy's sake. Then word arrives that Andy has relatives in Chicago, Frankie needs out of the deal fast, and Phil hires Julius for ten dollars to play Frankie's obnoxious son. Alice sings "A Wonderful Guy" from South Pacific.
