Shane Gillis Addresses SNL Backlash

Johnny Mac delivers daily comedy news with an adult-content warning, reporting that Shane Gillis opened for Dave Chappelle in Austin and spent part of his set discussing the SNL backlash, appearing shaken and saying he understood why people were upset. He covers Russell Brand testifying in his London criminal trial, denying all allegations, describing the impact on his life, and being cross-examined about past claims and jokes. The BBC is still scheduling Vittorio Angeloni’s sitcom “Rewarding” for next month while calling Angeloni’s assault joke unacceptable. Jimmy Carr argues comedy should be taught in schools as a transferable communication skill. Netflix releases “SCTV: The Greatest Show You’ve Never Heard Of,” highlighting the sketch show’s influence. Mac’s “comedy stock market” says buy John Mulaney, sell Shane Gillis and Sebastian Maniscalco, then shares Jonathan Kite’s Bourdain-style CVS bit, a profile of goblin character John Goblikon, and urges listeners to vote.
