Catching Up with Wes Wilson: Country Roots, Springsteen, and Jimmy Buffett Memories

Host Jesse Jackson welcomes longtime friend Wes Wilson to Set Lusting Bruce for a wide-ranging catch-up that includes Wes’s family, his older son’s sports podcast, and lessons from raising a high-functioning autistic son who now runs a business flipping VCRs and CRT TVs for retro gamers. Wes shares growing up in Garland on classic country, a family connection to Waylon Jennings, and how he gradually got into rock, discovered Bruce Springsteen (especially Born in the U.S.A. and “Hello Sunshine”), and followed Jimmy Buffett after seeing him on Austin City Limits. Wes reflects on Buffett’s songwriting, books, favorite songs and albums, concert memories, and the impact of Buffett’s death. They also discuss other live acts, Wes’s move to East Texas to help his 95-year-old mother, and end with the “Thunder Road” question.
