The Blob (1988) & Night of The Comet (1984)

This week on Late Fee Files is joined by Chunk the Punk, and we’re rewinding to the 80s for a double feature of slime, synths, and end-of-the-world shenanigans! First up, it’s The Blob (1988), the gloriously gooey remake that takes a seemingly harmless alien organism and turns a small town into an all-you-can-eat buffet. With some seriously nasty practical effects, creative kills, and plenty of '80s horror goodness, this one proves that sometimes the remake really is worth the rental.

Then we’re heading into the apocalypse with Night of the Comet (1984), where two Valley Girls discover they might be among the last people left alive after a mysterious cosmic event wipes out most of humanity. Between killer mall vibes, zombie-like survivors, and a whole lot of neon-soaked '80s attitude, it’s a post-apocalyptic adventure with a personality all its own.

So grab your favorite snack, dust off that old rental card, and join us as we revisit two cult favorites that bring very different flavors of '80s genre fun. Were these hidden gems worth rewinding, or should they have stayed buried on the video store shelf?

Rewind. Rewatch. Return it late.
